Presentation
Created in 1986, the Tunis-Carthage COMAR Marathon has become an annual sporting event that attracts more than 4000 athletes, amateurs and professionals, Tunisians and foreigners who come to participate in the three races scheduled namely: The Marathon, the Half Marathon, the race for all and the Kids Marathon.
Our Marathon has continued to evolve from one session to another by consolidating the following axes:
- Establish itself as one of the major sporting events in Tunisia (Tunisian championship for the 42.195 km), while opening up to all countries of the Maghreb, Europe and beyond.
- Attract more and more foreign participants thus contributing to the promotion of tourism in our country.
- Promote sport for all as a day-ot-day discipline in order to ward off the evils of sedentarism and preserve our health.
- Perpetuate the environmental action and to engage in the protection of the planet (reforestation efforts).
Since the 34th edition in 2019 and following the health crisis of COVID, the world of athletics has gone digital to train, keep in touch with teammates and specially to participate in the various competitions.
In 2020 and 2021, the two editions of the Tunis-Carthage COMAR Marathon were organized as a series of virtual promotional races: the first, on 05 and 06 December 2020 and the second, on 11 and 12 December 2021.
INTERNATIONAL CALENDAR
- The Tunis-Carthage COMAR Marathon is registered on the Tunisian national calendar managed by the Tunisian Athletics Federation (FTA) and also on the international calendar of the international federation of athletics managed by WORLD ATHLETICS.
- The Tunis-Carthage COMAR Marathon has obtained the label of the international federation of athletics (WORLD ATHLETICS FEDERATION) since 2019.
- The Tunis-Carthage COMAR Marathon is also certified by the Association of International Marathons (AIMS).
GREEN DIMENSION
- Ecology and sustainable development are at the heart of the Marathon. We want to raise awareness among participants to the need to respect the environment: to engage in the protection of the planet and participate in a sporting event with beautiful values.
- In 2021, the COMAR Virtual Run Marathon was organized under the theme "Let's run for the environment". in partnership with the association "Tounes Clean Up" to contribute to the planting of trees throughout Tunisia: 1 Dinar collected = 1 Tree planted.
- Thanks to the participation in this environmental cause in 2021, we managed to collect funds to plant 20 623 trees in our forests damaged by fires!
